Twenty Questions on Iran

Via Tigerhawk, the Center for Strategic and International Studies has published a set of twenty questions (pdf) on the situation in Iran. Correct answers to these questions will enable the U.S. to avoid serious missteps as it completes the stabilization of Iraq and departs the region. The first three questions are:

  • Are we sure that Iran wants to develop a nuclear weapons capability?
  • Will we know if Iran has reached a “point of no return” on a nuclear weapons program?
  • Would a nuclear-armed Iran strike a devastating blow against regional security?

As Tigerhawk says, CSIS has done a good job of presenting boths sides of each question. Topics include the stability of Iran’s government, the effects of the oil market, Iran’s conventional forces, and the attitudes of other major powers.
